The music portion of SXSW officially begins tomorrow! Cue the shrieks… of both excitement and panic because you still haven’t figured out what artists you should be checking out. No sweat – we’ve got you covered! We created a daily breakdown of our favourite showcasing bands, and here are our best bets for Tuesday, March 17, 2015:
With the cheapest flight from Toronto to Austin (for SXSW) currently at $666 dollars, here’s one way of saving money on a flight and getting an extra vacation in:
- Go to YYZ deals and take advantage of their current travel deal
- Choose March 9 as your departure from Toronto to Dallas, and March 19 as your return from Dallas to Toronto for a total of $271.00
- Head on over to American Airlines
- Choose March 13 as your departure from Dallas to Austin and March 18 as your return from Austin to Toronto for a total of $232.60
Total price? $503.60 for a total savings of $162! Yeah, we realize you’ll have to pay extra for food and accommodations, but you’ll also get to see Dallas, so there’s that!
It's here! It's here! It's officially here!!!
NXNE kicks off today with NXNE interactive and a lil' birdie told us that portion of the festival is officially sold out! YAYS NXNE!
Us TBS ladies will be blogging regularly updating you on the coolest music festival North East of that other cool South West one…
Be sure to check back often on recommendations, reviews, our predictions on the bands who will rock your world and the ones who you should never let your poor ears bleed over, which girl rocker had the best outfit and hair and which band is the babiest…you know…the usual!
Let's get started, shall we?

Just when I thought I'd spend the weekend all depressed, coming off my SXSW high, Toronto steps up and delivers what promises to be a relapse of awesomeness proportions.
For anyone who's lucky enough to have scored tickets/scalp some at the venue, here's where the fun will be at this weekend:
Canadian Indie Royalty and current NOW cover boys, Thrush Hermit are BACK..at least for a mini reunion tour. Holy mother, this is one show I'd probably sell my kidney for! (Lucky for me, I bought tickets in advance and won't have to worry about doing that). The boys will be playing THREE shows starting TONIGHT at Lee's Palace.
Openers for the show:
Friday – All Night Long
Saturday- Attack In Black
Sunday- Dinosaur Bones
Meanwhile Atlanta's self-proclaimed "flower-punk" handsomes Black Lips will be playing the Horseshoe Tavern this Saturday and Sunday. Holy mother, this is show two I'd probably sell my kidney for…although with the reputation that precedes their live shows, my kidney may very well end up getting kicked around, with bruises to boot.
Can't wait for BOTH. Thanks for the forecasted AH-MAZING times, Collective Concerts!
